New York Yankees Prospect to be honored in Rochester

Cito Culver, the 2010 first round draft pick of the New York Yankees, will be awarded the key to the city by Rochester Mayor Robert Duffy on Monday, September 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at City Hall.

The Irondequoit High School standout was the first Rochester native since Mike Jones was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in 1977.

Culver made his professional debut this past summer with the Gulf Coast League Yankees where he batted .269 with two homeruns, a triple and seven doubles.  Late in the season he earned a promotion to the Staten Island Yankees of the NY-Penn League where he got his first taste of playing in front of New York City crowds.

The young switch-hitting shortstop has demonstrated excellent range and a good arm as well as making solid contact at the plate.
