Baseball Digest: Yanks World Series Trophy Goes to Bat in the Fight Against ALS

Charity-minded Yankees fan Chris Scandaglia’s efforts to conquer the disease that took his grandfather’s life have inspired both admiration and generosity, and a rare appearance by a very special piece of hardware, the 2009 World Series Trophy.  Scandaglia sponsored a fundraising dinner and sports memorabilia raffle at Bocelli Ristorante in Staten Island, N.Y., on June 19, with the aim of raising funds to combat Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease) with cutting edge research.
