Major League Baseball will partner with USA Baseball to host the inaugural ‘Girls Baseball Breakthrough Series,’ a groundbreaking amateur development camp designed specifically for girls baseball players, at Historic Dodgertown in Vero Beach, Fla., from Thursday, May 31st until Sunday, June 3rd. The special event will host approximately 65 high school baseball players from 17 different states, Washington D.C. and Canada in a unique setting, featuring elite instruction, insight and exhibition games. Some of the nation’s top female baseball coaches and players – including current and former members of the U.S. Women’s National Baseball Team – will serve as event instructors.
In addition to the on-field action, participants will receive presentations from notable women in baseball and other industry professionals, providing information on career experiences both on and off the field as well as to encourage to continue playing the game. Similar to other MLB amateur development camps, a contingent of college recruiters and professional scouts are expected to attend and evaluate players.
The ‘Girls Baseball Breakthrough Series,’ which is an extension of the Baseball Breakthrough Series established in 2008, is completely expense-free for participants. The official hashtag for the event will be #BreakthroughSeries.
